Westwood’s Mission
Westwood exists to develop growing disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our Environments These are the elements of a well-rounded walk with Christ. Are you living in all four environments? • Connect with God • Grow with Believers • Serve in the Church • Live on Mission
About Our Worship We enter worship to glorify the Lord (Ps. 30:5) and to experience His presence. We don’t want to simply attend church. You will see people expressing worship in different ways. We encourage you to do the same. Remember, we are not here to impress any human being, but we are giving honor to an audience of One. Why not pause and ask God to speak to your heart today?
Financial Gifts As our guest, please do not feel any obligation to participate in the offering. Our members support the ministry of the church and you are considered our guest this morning.
About Our Appearance In Scripture, the emphasis is on people, not clothing. If you are more comfortable in casual clothes, please dress casually. If you enjoy wearing a suit, then please do so. Remember, man looks at the outward appearance, but God sees the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
Prayer Requests Please use the connection card to share prayer concerns. The staff and a small group of people will pray for your confidentially shared requests.
Small Groups: The Heart of Westwood Our small groups are the heart of our church. You cannot fully experience church without being plugged in to one of our Home Groups or Adult Bible Study Classes. Finding a class is easy; just ask a greeter or use the “Class Finder” brochure at the Information Desk.
Hearing Assistance Provided We have hearing assistance devices available for your use. A receiver may be checked out from the Information Desk. For those with their own receivers, we broadcast on Channel E.
Name Tags At Westwood, we encourage the use of name tags to help us get to know one another. To receive a Westwood name tag, please check the appropriate box on your bulletin connection card to request a tag. After you receive the tag in the mail, please stop by the Information Desk to pick up a clip.
Parking We have Guest Parking in the West Lot for first and second time guests (turn on parking lights to be directed to correct lot). Senior Adult and Handicap parking is located in the West lot. Families with Preschoolers will find it more convenient to park in our Main Lot on the upper level. Some of our preschool lot is marked “SOS” for those who are Single on Sunday. These spaces are for preschool parents attending alone on Sunday.
E-News Weekly You can receive an advance copy of weekly bulletin announcements via email and/or online. To sign up, please visit WestwoodToday.com or give us your email address and check appropriate box on your connection card. Please print clearly and legibly.
For Guests With Preschoolers We offer Biblically based classes for all preschoolers. You will find our well-supervised atmosphere is warm, caring, and fun. Your child will enjoy classes designed to meet his or her needs, giving you the opportunity to worship and attend a Bible Study class. Teachers transition older preschoolers to and from Bible Study and Wee Worship. Stop by our Preschool Information Desk, we would love to meet you!
For Guests With Children Grades 1-5 Our children’s ministry offers a Bible Study called Journey and a worship event known as Celebration. Your child may attend either or both of these. Teachers will transition children from one to the other.
Our Membership Process Those desiring membership in Westwood may begin that process in one of two ways. 1) by coming forward at the end of a worship service (you’ll then meet with a Decision Partner about your decision) or 2) by attending First Step Class which is offered on a monthly basis.
Four requirements for membership include 1) affirming your relationship with Christ during a meeting with an equipping staff member or Decision Partner, 2) having been baptized by immersion, 3) attending the First Step Class, and 4) signing the Westwood Member Covenant. For more information, please contact Matt Haines.
Our Student Building and Ministry Center The Student Building and Ministry Center are located at 209 Cloverdale Circle. The Student Building is where our Students have worship on Wednesday evenings. The Ministry Center is where our church offices are located. (see map)
